2019 WAEC GCE Jan/Feb Examination Results Statistics | 1st Series

West African Examination Council [WAEC] Has Released the Result Statistics for the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) For Private Candidates First Series January/February Examination 26.08% Obtained 5 Credits Including English & Maths

Shortly after releasing the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) For Private Candidates Second Series Aug/Sept Examination Results the West African Examination Council [WAEC] has also published the results statistics for the just concluded examination.

According to the Result Statistics/Analysis released by the Head of Nigerian National Office of the council, Mr. Olu Adenipekun a total of  3,102 candidates obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects including English Language and Mathematics. The figure represents 26.08 per cent of 11,892 candidates that sat the examination.

“For the 2019 diet, 12,202 candidates registered for the examination out of which 11,892 candidates sat for the examination. Of the number of candidates that sat for the examination, 6,180 were male and 5,712 were female, representing 52 and 48 per cent respectively.

“A total of 11,686 candidates, representing 98.27 per cent, have their results fully processed and released, while 206 candidates, representing 1.73 per cent, have a few of their subjects still being processed due to errors traceable to the candidates in the course of registration or writing the examination. Such errors are being corrected by the council to enable the affected candidates to get their results fully processed and released subsequently.”

Giving a breakdown of the 11,686 results released, Adenipekun said 376 results were being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice and were being investigated.

“A total of 3,102 candidates, representing 26.08 per cent, obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects including English Language and General Mathematics.

“A total of 8,782 candidates, representing 75.15 per cent, obtained credit and above in two subjects; 7,332 candidates, representing 62.74 per cent, obtained credit and above in three subjects; 5,850 candidates, representing 50.06 per cent, obtained credit and above in four subjects; and 4,314 candidates, representing 36.28 per cent, obtained credit and above in five subjects.

“The result of 376 candidates, representing 3.16 per cent of the total candidature for the examination, being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice. The cases are being investigated and reports of the investigations will be presented to the appropriate committee of the council in due course for consideration. The committee’s decisions will be communicated to the affected candidates,” Adenipekun said.
