National Examination Council (NECO) GCE Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for External Candidates Online Registration For, Guidelines, Sales of Pins and Scratch Cards, Registration Fees and Closing Date/ Deadline for 2018/2019 Academic Session.

This is to inform Teachers, Parents, Guardians that the 2018 November/December SSCE sales of form commenced on Monday 16th July, 2018.

SENIOR SCHOOL CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (SSCE External)

This is the examination taken by candidates in their last stage of Secondary Education. The SSCE is in two categories. One is for candidates in the third and final year of their secondary education and it is called SSCE Internal. The Second is SSCE External and is for candidates not in the School system.

Another core component of the mandate of the Council as espoused in the Enabling law is the conduct of the Senior School Certificate Examination for External Candidates.

The advertisement for the registration and conduct of the examination has been published below and in the following National Dailies:

  • Tribune Newspaper Monday 16th July, 2018,
  • Daily Trust Newspaper Thursday 19th July, 2018 and
  • The Sun Newspaper Monday 23rd July, 2018.

State Officers are expected to contact their respective Local Media Houses and advertise the examination on a regular basis using the Radio Jingle Message enclosed.
This should be done 20 times within the registration period.

A. REGISTRATION WEBSITE

1. On-line Registration
Registration will as usual, be on-line using the NECO registration website www.mynecoexams.com
Candidates are to note that:
  • BIOMETRIC FINGERPRINTS WILL BE CAPTURED DURING THE REGISTRATION.
  • THEIR FINGERPRINTS ARE CAPTURED CORRECTLY DURING REGISTRATION.
  • THOSE WITH MISMATCHED FINGERPRINTS AT THE POINT OF VERIFICATION WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SIT FOR THE EXAMINATION.

Passport Photograph of candidates will also be required during on-line registration. The passport photograph should NOT be more than six months old and must be of white background.

2. Registration Pin
The Registration Pin will be purchased online through the NECO website.

3. Registration Fee
The Registration fee is Eleven Thousand Three Hundred and Fifty Naira (N11,350) only, excluding Fifty Naira (N50) Stamp Duty. All payment should be into NECO Treasury Single Account (TSA) SSCE (E) through the NECO website.

NOTE: THE REGISTRATION FEE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE USUAL SERVICE COST CHARGED FOR REGISTRATION BY THE ACCREDITED CYBER CAFES.

4. Registration Period
Registration period begins on Monday 16th July and ends on Friday, the 9th of November 2018 at 12.00 midnight.


B. REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

1. List of Accredited Cyber Cafes
As earlier mentioned, registration is strictly on-line and biometric data capture is an integral part. The use of reputable Cyber cafes with good facilities is highly recommended as the Council will not be liable for registration errors committed by candidates. List of accredited Cyber cafes
Nationwide where candidates can register is available on the NECO website – www.mynecoexams.com.

You are to download list of accredited Cyber cafes of your State and paste it conspicuously on your Notice Board.

2. Attestation Cards/Photo Album
Each candidate is expected to download ONE (1) clear copy of the Attestation Card from the cyber café where he/she registers.
Please note that:
CANDIDATES ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED TO STAMP OR SUBMIT THEIR ATTESTATION/PHOTO CARDS IN NECO STATE OFFICES.A CLEAR COPY OF THE DOWLOADED ATTESTATION/PHOTO CARD, DULY SIGNED AND STAMPED BY AN ELIGIBLE REFEREE SHOULD BE PRESENTED DURING THE EXAMINATION.

3. Blind Candidates
Blind candidates are to register like everyone. However, they are to inform the NECO State Officer of the State where they intend to write the Examination, immediately after they register. A copy of each blind candidate’s Attestation Card should be collected by the State Officer for further
action.

4. Blind Candidates and Albinos
Please note that the Albinos and Blind Candidates are to be given 30 minutes extra time across all papers.

5. Centre Coordinators
Principal of schools that are to be used as centres for this Examination will as usual, be appointed as Coordinators. Please, liaise with them to ensure that they give the necessary support for the successful conduct of the Examination.
6. Complaints on Registration
