IAUE Appoints Goodluck Jonathan Distinguished Scholar in Residence

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, IAUE Appoints Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) as a Distinguished Scholar in Residence

 The Governing Council of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has appointed the immediate past President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) as a distinguished scholar in residence.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele made this disclosure during a thank you visit to the former President at Bayelsa State.

The appointment according to the Vice-Chancellor will require the former president to give public lectures once in two years and also engage in teaching and supervision of Dissertations/Thesis of graduate students.

Professor Ndimele further hinted that the peace ambassador will be given an office to oversee the proposed Dr Good luck Ebele Jonathan Centre for Research, Governance and Leadership with a Director appointed to oversee the centre in his absence.

He thanked the Icon of Democracy award recipient for the honour done the university with his presence at the 35th and 36th convocation ceremony of the institution where he was bestowed with the award and added that the university is now being ranked high.

In his response, the highly elated and humble Otueke born former president expressed appreciation to the university Governing Council for the offer stating that it would be nice to mentor graduate students and to give public lectures.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of infrastructural growth and development at the university and promised to partner with government establishments to erect structures for the institution.
Dr Jonathan conveyed his gratitude to the Governing Council and prayed God for economic development and peaceful environment devoid of tension.

In her vote of thanks the Chairman of the university investiture committee and Director Health Services Dr Precious Gbeneol thanked him for granting the audience and for accepting the offer of mentoring job made and added that his presence at the university convocation is an eloquent testimony that the university investiture committee which she chaired did a great job and also projected her in a good light before the university Administration.

Principal officers of the university were at the Vice-Chancellor's entourage as well as members of the university investiture committee.
