The Management of the University of Calabar has recalled three of her students who were allegedly involved in cultism, murder and unlawful possession of fire arms.

This follows an investigative report received by the University authorities from the Nigerian Police on the above subject.

It will be recalled that sometime in September, 2018, some persons including the three students were arrested over cult-related offences.

According to a release signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Moses Abang, the Police report indicates that while some of the suspects were found culpable and charged to court, the three students; Ofem Gabriel, Peter Ben Egim and Pius Itoro Okon of the Departments of Linguistics, Economics and Geology respectively have been cleared of all allegations and consequently exonerated.

It adds that investigations has proven that the three were arrested innocently while trying to escape from what the report described as the "danger zone".

According to the release therefore, the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Zana Akpagu has granted approval for the affected students, who were suspended pending the conclusion of investigations, to be recalled from suspension and allowed to resume their academic programmes.

While reiterating Management's zero tolerance for all forms of cultism and social vices, the Vice Chancellor has directed the Heads of Departments and Deans of Faculties of the students involved to take note and ensure compliance.
