Each year, Rotary funds some of the world’s most dedicated and brightest professionals to study at Rotary Peace Centers. Through training, study, and practice, Rotary Peace Fellows become leaders and catalysts for peace and conflict resolution; many go on to careers in national governments, NGOs, the military, law enforcement, and international organizations like the United Nations and World Bank.

Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 professionals from around the world to receive fellowships to study at one of our peace centers.

WHO CAN APPLY

The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for professionals with work experience in international relations or peace and conflict prevention and resolution. The fellows are committed to community and international service and the pursuit of peace.

ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA

• Proficiency in English; proficiency in a second language is strongly
• Strong commitment to international understanding and peace as demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal or community service
• Excellent leadership skills
• Master’s degree applicants: minimum three years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, bachelor’s degree
• Certificate applicants: minimum five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, strong academic background

PROGRAMME TYPE

• Master’s degree programs: Last 15 to 24 months and require a practical internship of two to three months during the academic break.
• Professional development certificates: For experienced professionals and lasts three months with two to three weeks of field study.

DESIGNATED UNIVERSITY FOR STUDY

• Duke University & University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA (21-month program)
• International Christian University, Tokyo, Japan (22-month program plus two months optional intensive language study)
• University of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England (15-month program)
• University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia (16-month program)
• Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden (24-month program)
• Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand (3-month program)

EXPECTATIONS FROM CLUBS

1. Advertise for eligible candidates amongst our friends, neighbors and acquaintances.
2. Guide potential applicants to make application to the relevant institutions.
3. The Sponsor District should be stated as District 9125 Nigeria and application must be from the States in our District.
4. The District Committee would shortlist and interview potential peace scholars in the month of May 2019. Date time and venue shall be advised to all applicants.
5. Eligible candidates would be Endorsed and forwarded by the District and Rotary International before June 30, 2019
6. Rotary International shall contact successful candidate.
